Religious OCD, waswasah, scrupulosity, blasphemy fears. There are many things relgious people can learn to fear, though must unlearn this as well!

It’s interesting to read about Relgious OCD (scrupulosity, waswasah) and how it often affects those whose are generally more religious. My own belief is that some people are so concerned with pleasing God that sin or not doing something ritually correctly (“did I pronounce things correctly?”, “am I in a State of Grace?”, “how many raka’at did I do?” can become a real stressor for some. It sometimes morphs into OCD if it becomes severe enough. Secular therapists might suggest leaving the thing that is causing stress, but I think as with most anxiety issues (including OCD), the issue must be faced. It can be done…don’t avoid facing it. I have made some videos about this, but contact me for my specific thoughts about your situation. I have been through this too!

Two perspectives (Muslim) (Christian) are good starting points. If you are religious, find competent religious help but also consider a therapist who understands and shares your religious views! I suggest that a one-sided approach (only religious, or only secular therapy) is not the best way to treat this issue.
